Replacement is a new hardwood floor after the old floor comes out. It is priced like an installation, plus the cost of taking up what is already down.
Carpet removal and hardwood removal are separate rates. The online range uses the removal rate that matches what you tell it. If the old floor is something else, or you are not sure what is under the carpet, say so. The site will not guess.
Who supplies the new hardwood matters. Labor covers the install. Solid oak is added only when Mike supplies the material, with waste on the material order.
A replacement often takes longer than a new floor in an empty room, because the old floor, the nails, and the transitions have to come out first. Furniture and occupied rooms are part of the conversation at the visit.
The range on this site is a starting point from the size and the answers you enter. Water damage, a soft subfloor, or an unknown size stops the calculator. The pricing page lists the current installation and removal rates.
